Summary

The International Youth Foundation (IYF), a global nonprofit organization that works to improve the lives and conditions of young people worldwide, is seeking a Global Human Resources Director to provide leadership and oversight for IYF’s global human resource function. The ideal candidate will be an independent self-starter with significant HR experience in the United States and internationally, and have strong skills in relationship building and management. Purpose

To provide leadership and oversight for IYF’s global human resource function and ensure the effective and efficient use of IYF’s human resources across the organization. Responsible for the overall implementation, administration, and regular evaluation of the organization’s human resources function, including, but not limited to, talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits, organizational development, corporate leadership, and performance management.

 

Responsibilities

  • In close collaboration with the Executive Management Team, ensure IYF has the human resources and structure necessary to achieve its strategic goals and deliver on its mission.
  • Maintain a legally compliant compensation, benefits and recognition program that effectively recruits and retains high quality staff. Serve as Plan Administrator for 401k plan, overseeing 5500 reporting, annual audit, monitoring plan performance and meeting other fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Direct the global talent acquisition and development processes, recruiting and maintaining high quality staff and ensuring they have the requisite knowledge and skills to carry out their job responsibilities and continue to grow and develop.
  • Oversee a performance management process that recognizes staff achievement and emphasizes self-reflection and learning.
  • Maintain employee handbooks, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Ensure that each IYF Office has appropriate safety and security procedures and plans in place in case of an emergency. Provide support to staff in the event an emergency arises.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with department leaders and key stakeholders; colleagues inside and outside of HR to innovate, enhance, align and drive the effectiveness of HR initiatives 
  • Provide candid and constructive feedback to department heads about talent moves, gaps, promotions and growth opportunities
  • Work with line managers and employees to address all types of employee relations issues, fairly representing all interests 
  • Serve as an active member of the Senior Management Team.

  • Proven successful track record and knowledge in talent acquisition, organizational and employee development, performance management, employee relations, change management.

  • Demonstrates a high degree of confidentiality in interpersonal interaction.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Fluent in English, both oral and written. Fluency in a second language preferred.
  • Enthusiastic team player with a strong drive to create a positive work environment. 
  • Excellent computer skills using MS Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel internationally as needed.

 

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience related to human resources management in the United States and internationally, preferably in a non-profit setting.
  • A Master’s degree in a related field and/or the Social Sciences is highly preferred. Preference for SHRM-SCP and/or SPHR certification.
  • Knowledge of government regulations, professional best practices and industry trends as they apply to all HR related functions and responsibilities required. 
  • Passion for innovative HR solutions and process improvement.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience working internationally preferred.   
  • Deep personal commitment to social and economic development that recognizes youth as critical actors and beneficiaries.
