The Head of Global Staffing and Talent Acquisition is responsible for building, developing and providing leadership to the global function to ensure the solid development and execution of a Talent Acquisition strategy and processes to attract and hire the best talent into Alcon.

Major Accountabilities

• Strategy – Provides thought leadership on transforming the staffing organization into a world-class Talent Acquisition function. This includes building and leading a function which can take Alcon from a traditional recruiting organization to a business which considers its long term talent needs, prepares for succession gaps, and strategically moves talent for their development and the company’s best utilization. In addition, the function will provide strategic partnership and counsel to the business on the most effective strategies for acquiring the talent needed today and for the future, including designing and recommending new recruitment models depending on external and business trends. Additionally, the position will be responsible for partnering with other Leaders to develop innovative staffing strategies, align on best practice, and leverage existing tools and strategies to ensuring the highest standard in execution of any plans or projects approved by the HR leadership. The function is also responsible for the evolvement of the human resources organization, ensuring focus beyond the U.S. for a comprehensive, global strategy that works around the Alcon map.
• Talent Sourcing & Candidate Engagement – Creates new strategies and leads a team to identify and proactively build talent pipelines, including academic institutions, talent mapping strategies, high performing organizations, etc.; develops relationships to enable access to this talent. These programs will focus on senior and executive talent, and talent in hyper-growth markets around the globe. Driving proactive recruitment, talent mapping and passive sourcing strategies. Building pipelines of future candidates.
• Talent Management – Understands talent management and works closely with the Talent Management team and the Human Resources Leadership Team (HRLT) to identify strategies on internal and external hiring as defined by the Company’s Forward Planning OTR/Succession Planning processes.
• Workforce Planning – Understands how to identify and address the gaps between the workforce of today and the human capital needs in the future. Align workforce requirements directly to Alcon’s strategic and annual business plans. Develop a comprehensive picture of where gaps exist between competencies the workforce currently possesses and future competency requirements.
• Team Leadership – Leads a Global Talent Acquisition team to include Strategic Consultants, full time recruiters and/or RPO models. Plays leadership sponsor role for Global Staffing Council (GSC) representing the global business of Alcon. Works closely and collaboratively with other Staffing Heads on resolving issues which have an impact globally across Alcon. Facilitates sharing and leveraging of best practices across Alcon.
• Diversity – Understands the underlying supply rates of talent in different demographic and geographic groups, and ensures diversity slates are presented and measured for each business unit within Alcon. Ensures staffing strategy is focused on the Diversity Hiring strategy by working closely with the Head of Diversity and Inclusion.
• Tracking Capacity, Reporting and Vendor Management – Designs and leads team to manage Recruitment Dashboards that are in alignment with Alcon's Talent Management Initiatives for all function with the Talent Acquisition organization. Ensures process design of Vendor Management and Talent Brokering are is in alignment with Alcon Best Talent Identification Methodology.
• Projects - Provides project support as required and help drive projects through to completion. Ensures implementation of global Talent Acquisition projects/initiatives as agreed by ELT, and HRLT.
• Process – Defines with HRLT and Global Staffing Council the adherence to standard staffing processes globally, e.g. use of standardized interview guides and working with talent management on core competency development, etc. Takes lead in building strategic relationships with HR Generalists, Comp and Benefits and others to improve productivity and embed enhancements into staffing process.
• Staffing Operations – Serves as Primary interface and provides operational link with Staffing Operations and drive Global Staffing Process and Metrics to facilitate the achievement of agreed targets

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in Business or related field. MBA or Masters preferred or the equivalent in management experience is preferred.
• Fluent written and spoken English; other languages an advantage.
• Minimum 10 years Staffing and HR experience with a background from complex and multi - dimensional international corporate organization.
• Preferably, 6 years minimum experience leading and managing a staffing or HR team through major project initiatives.
• Extensive experience in designing and implementing sourcing strategies, including talent mapping and talent engagement methods to maintain a robust pipeline and ensure ongoing contact with viable talent when an immediate position/opening does not exist.
• Team and people management experience, including remote and global management experience.
• Understanding of and experience with an RPO model a strong plus.
• An expert level of knowledge in all full lifecycle executive recruiting components including, but not limited to, indirect and direct sourcing, qualifying, networking, assessing, legal, job analysis, wage and salary trends, relationship management, and due diligence.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit globally for a broad/deep range of positions in multiple countries working cross-border in complex, matrixed organizations.
• Practical knowledge of recruiting best practices, recruitment plan development, sourcing methods and executive compensation strategies; excellent candidate assessment and closure skills required.
• Must demonstrate the ability to present innovative and new recruiting concepts to executive leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to command the attention and respect of ELT members and other leadership while delivering talent acquisition deliverables.
• Demonstrated success in managing multiple candidates and employees on concurrent complex hiring projects with the ability to effectively prioritize efforts in meeting obligations.
• Ability to influence line executive leaders and other HR leaders/peers across the organization.
• Must be able to manage competing demands, accept criticism and constructive feedback, while being extremely adaptable and flexible.
• Must be able to quickly assimilate technical information and build solutions to the optimal balance of meeting business needs, beating competitors, and operating with financial/business acumen.
