Position Summary

The role of the Global Diversity & Inclusion Advisor is to work closely with the Global Chair of Diversity & Inclusion, and others in leadership roles in their efforts to implement the firm’s strategic objectives for diversity and inclusion (D&I).

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate and implement responsibilities related to internal and external diversity and inclusion initiatives by performing a broad range of duties that require independent decision-making, discretion and judgment.
  • Working with the HR Department, Marketing Department, D&I and WINRS chairs and others in leadership roles, develop and maintain D&I communication materials, including the design and content for the firm’s internet and intranet, electronic newsletters, client and other organization diversity surveys. Will also be called upon to provide information for business development opportunities and to support initiatives such as bar association activities .
  • Develop materials and liaise with local Legal Recruiting Managers to support hiring efforts of diverse and women’s attorneys .
  • Complete annual budgeting process for D&I cost centers and oversee expense allocation throughout the year.
  • Provide initial drafting of diversity-related communications, reports, presentations and surveys requiring research, analysis evaluation, quantitative and qualitative research; conformance with established procedures and accuracy.
  • Coordinates with other firm departments, offices and affinity groups on diversity-related initiatives.
  • Provides logistical support for diversity-related meetings, including coordinating various details for internal and/or external special retreats, training or workshops.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to perform routine, daily tasks as well as manage longer-term project work in a deadline-driven environment

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Talent Development, Marketing, Public Relations or equivalent degree is required.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ related experience in a law firm, professional services firm or government agency is preferred.

Skills: Must have a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and maintain a high degree of professionalism in order to interact effectively with a variety of individuals, both within and outside of the firm. Excellent writing, editing, communication and presentation skills. Position is will have access to certain PII, so integrity and confidentiality are essential. Strong computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft office products and certain internal applications are required.

Equipment To Be Used: Personal computer and other office equipment such as telephone, calculator, fax, machine, copier, scanner, etc.

Typical Physical Demands: Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment. Must be able to lift 20 pounds.

Typical Mental Demands: Able to deal with stress associated with fast-paced work environment. Multiple priorities/tasks. Make judgment decisions and adapt to changing work situations. Grasp and apply new ideas. Communicate with various personalities at all levels.

Working Conditions: Works in a typical office setting. Occasionally called upon to work hours in excess of your normal daily schedule. Some travel to other U.S. offices may be required.
