Nature of Work: Human Resources Technician I is the second level in the Human Resources class series and involves technical and administrative work in the City Human Resources Department. Work includes Addresses employee(s) performance and behavioral issues in facilitating resolutions to these matters. Works closely with City managers to provide employee coaching and counseling, and assist managers with referrals to training and employee assistance programs. Conducts labor relations, discrimination and harassment, and other personnel investigations. Assists with research and drafting related to City policies, procedures, guidance documents, and labor and employment memoranda. Meets with City employees, supervisors, and union officials to ensure labor agreement compliance and assist in grievance issues. Provides consultation and advice to City supervisors regarding personnel matters related to CBAs, Municipal Code, Executive Orders, and HR Policies.
Salary Range: $62,816.00 with step increases to $79,830.40 Annually
Examination Information:
The examination will consist of a structured interview which will be scheduled at a later date. The structured interview is designed to assess job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. The final eligibility list will be assembled from those candidates achieving a passing score of 60% on the structured interview (100% weight).
Veteran Points: To claim five (5) points for veteran’s preference, you must submit proof of service (such as a DD-214) that includes date of induction, date of honorable separation, and Social Security number. (You must have completed more than 180 consecutive days of active duty.) To receive an additional five (5) points credit for disability, you must submit proof of eligibility from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs dated within the last 12 months. This information must be submitted to the Human Resources Department by December 15, 2023.
Benefits Paid leave per year: twelve days vacation; five days management; fifteen days sick; and fourteen holidays. Education & Experience Requirement:
The knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired through, but are not limited to, the following combination of education and/or experience. Bachelor’s degree AND One (1) year of experience in one of the following areas: conducting salary and benefits surveys, computing and administering benefits, processing workers compensation claims, preparing and revising classification descriptions, constructing and validating employment examinations,
maintaining and administering Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) programs, developing and conducting formal training sessions, and administering recruitment and training programs.
