The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for the development and administration of Digi-Key’s employee relations program. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who can relate to individuals at all levels within the organization and must be sensitive to employee goodwill and needs of the business. This position interfaces with employees and several government agencies.

Responsibilities:

Must be able to…

  • Advise management and supervisors regarding personnel practices, policy and employment laws and provide high-quality advice and service on daily employee relations and performance management issues

  • Demonstrate a solid knowledge or expertise of employment law and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations

  • Serve as an expert for investigations and conflict resolution, especially in regards to matters involving alleged discrimination, harassment or legal involvement

  • Coordinate and execute company-wide safety program

  • Recognize trends of behavior and recommend solutions to leadership when applicable

  • Uphold a customer-focused philosophy and attitude consistent with the company standards, with high level of professionalism and discretion

  • Identify ways to improve policies and procedures for the betterment of Digi-Key and our employees

  • Assist and administer unemployment insurance processes; review liability reports and monitor program costs; and recommend policy changes to the Human Resources (HR) leadership

  • Facilitate and maintain various training programs

Requirements

Minimum/Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field or equivalent level of experience, training and education

  • 2-5 years of progressive Human Resources experience with an emphasis on employee relations

  • Generally, spend the workday sitting at a workstation and operating computer devices, such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse and screen

  • Generally, spend the workday performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your body

  • Demonstrate proven behavioral skills, including customer/client focus, ethical conduct, personal effectiveness/credibility, manages execution, positive attitude, attention to detail, professionalism, initiative, HR capacity, problem solving, thoroughness, time management, communication proficiency, project management and relationship management

  • Generally, spend the workday sitting at a workstation and operating computer devices, such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse and screen

  • Generally, spend the workday performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your body

Preferred Qualifications/Selection Criteria:

  • Experience working within a progressive disciplinary system

  • Proficient in Microsoft office

  • Experience using HRIS systems

HR Certification (SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR)
