Summary:

The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for partnering with leaders and associates to promote effective and efficient performance. This position interfaces with multiple audiences helping to resolve conflict and bring new perspectives to situations. Highly experienced with labor laws and various work styles this person coach’s management regarding employment decisions.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Provides advice and counsel to management regarding employment practices, policies and employment laws. Encourages unity through conflict management and effective behavioral remediation.

  2. Facilitate the company’s investigation process in a timely and thorough manner.

  3. Evaluate trends and concerns in associate activity; summarize findings, recommend solutions to HR VP.

  4. Pull information from various sources to create comprehensive file

  5. Manages and maintain highly sensitive and confidential information

  6. Coordinates preparation of policies, ensures FLSA classification compliances. Assists with review of job descriptions and job evaluations.

  7. Ensures compliance with all state and federal discrimination and employment regulations.

  8. Interfaces with external agencies and attorneys at request of VP, HR responding promptly

  9. Maintains an attitude and philosophy consistent with the company’s standards.

  10. Develops credible and trusting relationships with colleagues, associates and leadership

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in related field (Business, HR, Communications, etc).

Experience:

  • Five years of human resources experience advising leaders on associate matters required. HR certification through SHRM or HRCI preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of applicable state and federal employment and labor laws and government compliance requirements.
