As an Employee Relations Consultant, you will serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations issues, while ensuring compliance with corporate, Federal, State, Department of Labor, EEO, and Affirmative Action regulations and laws.

Your role.

  • Partner with leaders and employees at multiple levels of the organization regarding inquiries or concerns and help them understand HR policies as needed
  • Partner with each location to investigate and resolve employee issues and legal concerns
  • Research and respond to unemployment claims and partner with divisions to participate in necessary hearings
  • Partner with leaders on performance coaching efforts and corrective action measures administered for staff to ensure compliance and alignment to our core values
  • Coordinate termination processes and conduct exit interviews with all departing employees of assigned locations
  • Serve as subject matter expert in employment law and company policy to ensure compliance with all federal and state laws and divisional alignment
  • Present basic company policies and procedures and employee paperwork during new hire orientation
  • Act as liaison between department leaders and legal representatives during investigations, legal action, hearings, etc.
  • Gather and analyze data for audit or compliance needs

Requirements

We're looking for people who:

  • At least 5 years of experience in human resources and employee relations
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience leading projects and teams
  • Understanding of resources needed to assist in audit or compliance needs as assigned
  • Ability to foster and build relationships with sales teams, business partners, and in their own department that are collaborative and lead to effective problem solving
  • Maintain basic understanding of state and federal employment law and its implications on HR processes
  • Utilize strong understanding of business needs and culture to assist in resolutions
  • Seek multiple perspectives and input on situations and act proactively with assigned clients
  • Comfortable and confident using HR systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Esp. Word and Excel)
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to effectively manage issues at multiple/multi-state locations
  • Ability to train and present to large groups
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, and multi-task
  • Highly organized and self-motivated with ability to manage assigned tasks and activities
  • Work well independently and is a strong team player when needed
  • Ability to travel as required
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred
