Responsibilities

Provide faculty and staff assistance regarding Employee Relations concerns in accordance with UCLA Health Human Resources policies and applicable collective bargaining agreements. Provide policy interpretation on pay, vacation, and sick leave questions as they relate to employee relations issues. Manage all layoff activities ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements and UC personnel policies. Troubleshoot day to day complicated administrative issues, make recommendations as appropriate and keep Director informed of potential problems, grievances and areas of vulnerability. Independently performs UC Path personnel/payroll transactions for approximately 2000 employees. Directly supervise Compliance activities to ensure department and neuropsychiatric hospital are adhering to all UCLA Health and regulatory agency requirements including Joint Commission, Los Angeles County and CMS. Coordinate and complete special projects as assigned

Qualifications

Working knowledge of current laws, codes and guidelines as they relate to employee relations. Demonstrated experience in facilitating and/or mediating complaints. Demonstrated ability to understand and explain Human Resources policies and procedures and collective bargaining agreements. Ability effective track information, determine appropriate due dates and maintain various logs, records, databases which accurately reflect on-going administrative issues. Demonstrated ability to learn and/or adapt to new systems Knowledge of University collective bargaining agreements and University personnel policies and procedures preferred. Excellent proofreading skills to review materials for accuracy Ability to maintain confidentiality of personnel information. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other staff members, faculty, students and administrators. Must work well as a part of a team. Skill in writing grammatically correct, routine business correspondence. Excellent writing skills to compose correspondence, reports, investigative summaries and other communication clearly, concisely and with correct grammar. Excellent communication skills to obtain and convey information articulately and logically, using appropriate grammar and vocabulary. Demonstrated ability in making independent judgment and situation-specific appropriate decisions. Organizational skills to maximize efficiency and minimize duplication Skill in working independently and following through on assignments to completion with minimal supervision. Ability to prioritize assignments in a manner which accurately reflects the relative importance of job responsibilities. Working knowledge of various University benefit programs preferred. Working knowledge of University personnel forms, policies and procedures including working knowledge of the various labor agreements between the University of California and exclusive employee representatives
