Position Function

A great opprtunity for an experienced HR Professional to engage in a strategic business partnership with a Division President and a Company that truly knows and appreciates the value the HR Function brings to the organization.  

  • The Division Vice President of Human Resources is responsible for providing strategic and tactical leadership to the Human Resource function for the nearly $100M Horton Automatics, a Division of the over $1B Overhead Door Corporation. This includes team members in the US, Canada, Mexico and the UK.
  • This position reports directly to the Corporate EVP, Human Resources and indirectly reports to the Horton Automatics Division President. The Division President is new to the position and the former Senior Executive in charge of Strategy and M&A for the entire Corporation.  A thought leader, a strong believer in the importance of people, and an excellent communicator.
  • Position is located in Corpus Christi, Texas with a 10% travel requirement.

Role and Responsibilities

  • As a strategic business partner for the Division President, this position will:
  • Maintain an Employer Brand as a Great Place to Work that attracts and retains top talent.
  • Call upon effective LMS and E-Learning tools to ensure team members have the opportunity to grow, learn and pursue their career goals.
  • Help drive a positive, productive and winning culture that embraces forward-moving change.
  • Utilize a state of the art Oracle HCM cloud-based HRIS system to ensure administrative aspects of the function are handled properly and efficiently.
  • Enable leaders at all levels to create and maintain an environment that engages team members to do their best every day and to stay with the Company.
  • Supports the entire Team Member population in drive a Safety Culture that “Believes in Zero” accidents and injuries. 



  • A minimum of 15 years of diversified human resources assignments with 10 years in top divisional or regional Human Resource position. 
  • A high “EQ” – strong self-awareness and maturity. Able to establish and maintain excellent relationships and credibility quickly.  
  • Great leadership skills and the ability to coach others to increase their effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of EEOC Laws, ADA and other State and Federal Regulations.
  • Proven expertise in Recruiting and Team member engagement processes.
  • A strong sense of overall business operations enabling good judgment and participation in senior executive decision-making activity. 
  • Thorough understanding or the ability to quickly learn the Collective Bargaining process.
  • High level consulting skills, including the ability to draw on the ideas of staff and operating management and convert them into meaningful strategies and plans.


  • Undergraduate degree required, MBA preferred.
  • Professional certifications considered a plus.
