Job Purpose/Role

The New York City based Director, Senior HR Business Partner is the key contact to the New York City based Executive Team and the business. They are responsible for all HR processes execution for his/ her customers,including the Executive Team. In addition, the Director, Senior HR Business Partner, acts as counsel and coach for managers and the Executive Team, regarding HR policies, procedures and systems.

Key Responsibilities

Business Representation

  • Represent the business to the rest of the HR community. Collaborate on programs and initiatives by providing an organization-specific perspective
  • Assess HR implications of the business strategy, identify opportunities to further meet business needs, and design solutions
  • Establish and maintain relationships with senior managers in order to drive the execution of HR programs

Business Consultation

  • Act as first line of contact for employees and managers. Play an active role in business activities, understand local business context, issues and challenges to provide specific advice to business managers.
  • Develop resourcing strategies to support the business. Support managers to identify and manage high performing/high potential individuals and ensure succession is in place for key positions. Work with managers to identify future people requirements and act upon
  • Consult/coach managers and staff on employee relations topics (e.g., claims of misconduct, under performance, disciplinary actions, etc)

HR Processes

  • Represent the full spectrum of HR programs and processes to the business.
  • Consult and support business in implementation of HR processes in respective business area (e.g., rewards, performance, grading, talent, development, recruiting, etc.)
  • Consult business on HR policies and processes in the region (e.g., annual comp/performance reviews)
  • Lead recruitment process of all positions in respective business area

Projects & Initiatives

  • Support implementation of regional as well as global projects and initiatives in business area, as necessary
  • Champion business change and continuous improvement by proactively engaging with business managers

Operational Effectiveness

  • Act as owner of all documentation and data for business area
  • Maintain relevant documentation (e.g., contracts, forms, supporting documents) and assure the completeness/accuracy of all data. Ensure all data entry is completed on time and according to standards/guidelines
  • Generate reports or provide data as required, both for the business as well as within HR

Global HR Team / Regional HR Team

  • Where required, participate in global virtual team comprised of global, local and regional HR colleagues
  • Supervise and/or coach HR Business partners and/or HR Administrators

Requirements

  • Bachelor / Master degree (or equivalent) in related field preferred
  • Expert knowledge of US local, state and federal employment law
  • Advanced technical expertise in at least 1 HR topic (e.g., compensation, talent management, recruiting)
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years - Experience as a HRBP, preferably in a global organization
  • Minimum 1 to 3 years - Experience working in a matrix and virtual team environment supporting multiple locations
  • Minimum 1 to 3 years - Experience as a people manager, preferably HR Business Partners or HR Generalists
  • Minimum 1 to 3 years - Experience of leading / managing organizational change, ideally in various business scenarios, including restructuring, integration and mature / new growth markets.
  • Customer and relationship management expertise: Ability to maintain and build relationships with customers
  • Advanced negotiation and conflict management skills: Ability to negotiate, often in difficult situations, and steer discussions to a desired end
  • Advanced communication & presentation skills: Ability to express ideas and messages clearly, both written and verbally
  • Advanced analytical skills: Ability to analyze data from multiple sources (e.g., calculations, multiple process steps, conflicting information, etc.)
  • The Director, Senior HR Business Partner will be strategically based in the New York City office
