540 is looking for a Director of Talent to help us formulate and implement a talent acquisition and management program as our firm grows. We have built an intelligent, innovative, and fast-paced team, and we need someone to help us find, attract, and keep like-minded information technology professionals.  This position, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, will focus heavily on recruiting in the near term, and as we grow there will also be opportunities to shape talent management in our organization including updating benefits, employee relations, corporate culture and the overall 540 employee experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Build relationships and collaborate with our project teams to understand hiring needs, team goals, and best practices for talent acquisition strategies, and develop position descriptions that reflect our needs.

  • Manage and facilitate full life cycle recruitment, ensuring a smooth and positive candidate experience.

  • Source active and passive candidates from a variety of channels and communities: online and internal databases, employee referrals, events, networking, research, social media, etc.

  • Proactively collaborate with outside recruiting firms when necessary to source candidates for specialized positions. 

  • Review, pre-screen and interview candidates to determine the appropriateness of skills, experience, and knowledge in relation to position requirements.

  • Work with our operations team to ensure smooth interview logistics for both candidates and interviewers.

  • Engage with candidates throughout the recruitment process through the negotiation and offer stages of the process.

  • Influence the company’s organization structure and personnel policy, and stay current on Federal and state laws regarding employment practices (including reporting requirements as 540 is rapidly approaching fifty employees.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of experience working in Talent Management to include full lifecycle recruiting in a technical environment (in-house or agency) as well as experience managing in employee relations, benefits, and human resources management.

  • Exhibit a strong customer service mindset and ability to execute.

  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in recruiting strategies using various tools and techniques to include social networking, email campaigns, internal databases, referral based recruiting and innovative, cost effective search methods for best return on investment.

  • Demonstrated experience and success recruiting in a modern information technology services environment.

  • Thorough understanding of relevant policies and practices, and applicable state and Federal law.

  • Ability to ensure consistent communication regarding recruiting efforts by providing status updates to all stakeholders through meetings, email updates, and reports.

  • Seasoned interpersonal skills in facilitating and conducting the selection, interviewing and hiring process.

  • Strong emotional intelligence to navigate and advise on complex employee matters.

  • Ability to persuade and negotiate with all levels within the organization.

  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic, integrity, and personal accountability.

  • Ability to adapt to new environments and changing direction quickly.
