Director of Human Resources

TechFlow is looking for a talented and entrepreneurial Director of Human Resources to join our team in our San Diego headquarters. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, influencing, and problem-solving skills. This individual should have a focus on results that allows them to effectively multitask while keeping pace in a fast-moving environment. The Director of Human Resources will be responsible for all things HR, opine on HR’s strategic direction in order to enhance its services to our internal departments and attend to all HR details. This position will oversee, manage and enhance functions such as recruiting, training, wage and benefit administration, compliance with statutory requirements, performance reviews, and the execution of associated relations activities. Responsibilities:

  • Contribute and drive HR best practices that benefit the company across departments;
  • Drives business success by providing thought leadership and direction;
  • Develops an HR strategy that is aligned with the needs of the organization;
  • Strengthens HR’s technology capabilities to support effective talent management including talent planning, recruiting, learning systems, performance management, employee compensation, time reporting, benefits administration, and vendor and payroll interfaces;
  • Champions a long-term HR systems strategy with a formal technology roadmap;
  • Strong need to function at both high-level planning & strategy and low-level details & implementation with a focus on results;
  • Advises and supports senior leadership on HR issues and strategic employee decisions;
  • Strong understanding of government contracting rules and regulations and how they affect employees, employee programs and practices;
  • Provides executive coaching and advice on key areas such as leadership, performance reviews, teamwork, organization design, culture, and strategy;
  • Acts as the subject matter expert in the developing HR analytics for managers and executives that support data-driven decision making in people management;
  • Helps leaders understand and address people implications of business decisions;
  • Leads annual salary, bonus/commission, and equity planning process with business unit leadership, ensuring highest performers are compensated in line with their business impact and contributions;
  • Provides ongoing global compensation analyses and recommends market adjustments as needed to ensure top talent is retained;
  • Collaborates with global compensation and benefits partners to drive participation in annual benefits enrollment processes;
  • Directs the company’s health and welfare programs, ensuring competitive, cost-effective plans that drive a wellness culture.
  • Creates and supports business outcomes with HR programs, initiatives and strategies leading to a marketable competitive advantage;
  • Provides innovative and creative solutions with a willingness to push and challenge for transformative work;
  • Participate in mergers and acquisitions through assisting in due diligence, integration planning, and cultural assimilation;
  • Maximizes the quality and professionalism of all employees;
  • Directs and assists with recruiting, interviewing and on-boarding aligned with corporate culture;
  • Demonstrable knowledge of state-of-the-art thinking and practices in compensation, benefits and HRIS with the ability and willingness to provide leadership and results but also roll-up up one’s sleeves and assist with daily activities;
  • Ability to achieve goals through influencing, partnering and developing productive relationships with senior leadership and line managers across the business;
  • Previous experience managing and building teams in a fasted paced dynamic environment;
  • Ability to interact easily across all levels within the organization – tactful, mature, and flexible;
  • Cultivates and promotes company culture of employee-ownership through communications, education and example;
  • Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures, as well as Federal, State and Local laws and regulations.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or equivalent;
  • 10-12 years of progressive HR experience, strong business acumen plus 2-3 years management experience working within a government contracting environment;
  • Proven HR Generalist skills including employment law, employee engagement, succession planning, compensation, performance management, workforce planning, and training and development;
  • Strong analytical skills to deliver HR programs and strategies that effectively address business issues;
  • Track record of achieving results that contribute significantly to the business;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, problem-solving and decision-making skills, and ability to handle sensitive situations/documentation;
  • Capable of effectively sharing knowledge and providing guidance through informal training and one-on-one user training;
  • Possesses a good general business understanding, is very detail-oriented, organized, analytical, and has advanced computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, Industrial/Labor Relations, or Organizational Psychology;
  • PHR, SPHR, Coaching certification;
  • At least 10 years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist;
  • At least 3 years of experience supporting a nonexempt population across multiple site locations is strongly preferred;
  • 5 or more years working in a Government Contracting environment;
  • Working level knowledge and experience with negotiating and administering Collective Bargaining Agreements;
  • Working level knowledge and experience with Service Contract Act.
