Statement of Purpose: This position is responsible maintaining and enhancing the organization’s human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resource policies, programs, and practices.  This role is key in developing and implementing the HR strategy in support of overall goal of attracting, retaining, and developing the best talent. The position contributes to the continuous development of our HR strategies and initiatives, developing the annual review and plan regarding job performance and satisfaction, providing ideas and suggestions for major directions to strengthen our organization, and leading specific improvement initiatives and projects. The Director of Human Resources reports to the CEO.  Metro has approximately 200 associates.

Requirements

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to senior management and employees
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively anticipate the impact of external and forces on organizational needs and training
  • Ability to think strategically and translate concepts and strategic goals into actionable items
  • Ability to work in collaboration with CEO in a confidential manner
  • Excellent team and consensus building skills
  • Exemplary leadership skills with a high degree of influence and persuasion to direct, inspire, and motivate a high performing team of non-profit leaders in multiple departments
  • Demonstrated capability to use data analytics to support decisions
  • Ability to multi-task, establish priorities and work independently
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and interact with all levels and diverse populations in the organization
  • Proven people leader with disposition to coach and develop future HR leaders
  • Courage to make tough decisions and deliver difficult messages with professionalism and poise
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous business situations
  • Strong expertise in developing solutions based upon facts/data analytics
  • Must possess consultative style and approach with proven ability to develop credible relationships with CEO and senior level management
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present their point of view in varied situations

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) from accredited four-year college or university;
  • Minimum 8 years of HR experience in a managerial role;
  • 3 years working with senior management in an advising position;
  • SHRM-SCP or SPHR Certification required

 Certified credentials for certificates and education are required.
