Under general direction, is responsible for leading the Olmsted County's organization-wide Human Resources (HR) programs, initiatives and operation of the HR department. Ensures compliance with all applicable Federal and State regulations and reporting requirements and helps champion an organization-wide focus on and culture of inclusion and equity and wellness for individuals, teams, and the organization. Fosters a culture of respect, collaboration, customer service, and care for taxpayer funding. This position is an executive team member. The executive team implements County Board policy and decisions by establishing vision, allocating resources, and guiding the development of strategies and plans to accomplish the vision through measurable outcomes and results.

Requirements

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in human resources, public administration or related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a similar position as listed in the work functions with four (4) of those years in a supervisor role
OR
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in human resources, public administration or related field and six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in a similar position as listed in the work functions with four (4) of those years in a supervisor role

OR

A combination of education and experience equivalent to ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in a similar position as listed in the work functions with four (4) of those years in a supervisory role

 

Regular and reliable attendance is a necessary component of job/position. Individuals required to use County vehicles and equipment must have a valid driver’s license and be free of any major traffic violations for the last three (3) years.

 

Desirable Qualifications:

Professional Human Resources Certification (i.e.- SHRM, HRCI, IPMA)

Demonstrated understanding of the importance of a diverse staff in creating an equitable workplace

Demonstrated ability in previous positions to recruit and retain a diverse workforce
