Human Resources Director

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

 Annual Salary Range $90,000 - $95,000

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Human Resources Director is responsible for managing and administering Club human resources functions, including recruitment, compensation, benefits, safety, employee relations, performance management and staff development.  The Human Resources Director originates and leads Human Resources practices and objectives that provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce. The Human Resources Director coordinates implementation of services, policies, and programs through Human Resources staff; reports to the CEO and serves on the executive management team; and assists and advises company managers about Human Resources issues.


KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

Employee Management

  • Establish recruitment and selection protocols, determine cost-effective recruitment sources and strategies, conduct recruitment of talent based on organizational criteria and maintain employee files.
  • Plan and conduct new employee orientation.
  • Administer compensation and performance management systems.
  • Coordinate with Finance Department on the administration of benefits.
  • Manage administrative and operational systems employment and personnel records, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Manage employee disputes, firing and administration of disciplinary issues taking prompt, appropriate action to respond to conflicts between staff members.
  • Create and distribute communications templates.



  • Coordinate with Operations Leadership Team for an organizational training program to address the needs of the organization and comply with applicable laws.
  • Establish and educate staff on proactive strategies for responding to employee relations issues to minimize potential expenses.
  • Support staff career development, identifying opportunities for training and skill building within budget limits.
  • Train Managers on organizational matters to ensure clarity and compliance to policies and laws on all levels of management.



  • Ensure a healthy and safe environment that complies with all OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure a productive work environment that encourages positive, effective working relationships and open communications, and that is respectful of the gender and cultural diversity of Club staff, volunteers and members.
  • Coordinate with Marketing Department on public relations efforts to promote awareness of and stimulate interest in employment opportunities with BGCPP.


Leadership/Strategic Planning

  • In collaboration with Senior Staff and Human Resources Committee, establish and implement policies and procedures for the effective management of Club human resources, ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations and community practice, as well as BGCPP mission and values.
  • Provide information to staff and volunteer leadership to support management decision-making regarding policy issues, employee relations, staff development needs, compensation and benefits practices and costs and recruitment practices.
  • Collect and evaluate data to prepare reports summarizing human resources programs and activities and develop recommendations for improvement.
  • Oversee departmental budget and staff members.
  • Contribute to operational strategic planning, providing perspective on staffing and employee development needs to support strategic directions.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities to improve human resources policies, procedures and programs to ensure they meet Club needs and motivate effective performance of staff.



Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.

External: Maintain contact with other Clubs, vendors, consultants, organizations, government agencies and others to achieve program goals and objectives, manage costs, share information and resolve problems.



  • Bachelors degree. PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
  • At least ten years of progressively responsible experience in human resources management.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local regulatory requirements affecting human resources management.
  • Current knowledge of best practices in human resources management.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with peers and employees.
  • Computer literacy, including database management.
