REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Company President - COO

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Human Resources Director guides and manages the overall global Human Resources services, policies and programs for the company. The HR Director originates and leads practices and objectives that will provide a high performance culture that emphasizes quality, productivity, accountability, standards, goal attainment and the recruitment and ongoing development and retention of a superior workforce. He/She is responsible for the development of processes and metrics that support the achievement of the company’s strategic goals. The HR Director coordinates the implementation of people related services, policies and programs through the Human Resources staff; reports to the President - COO; and assists and advises company managers about Human Resources issues.

Direct reports include one administrative staff member at the New Jersey headquarters, and two HR staff members, one located at the Company’s subsidiary in Milton, PA and another in the United Kingdom.

 Specific responsibilities of this position include:

Creation of the Human Resources department. Leveraging the existing protocols and expanding staff as workload and budget allow. Establish programs, procedures and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the company.

  • Maintains organization workforce by establishing standard recruiting and hiring processes and procedures, testing, and interviewing program; works with managers on candidate selection and onboarding; conducting and analyzing exit interviews.
  • Prepares employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation and training programs. In collaboration with senior management team, identifies high potential employees and helps establish appropriate development programs to prepare potential leaders to grow with the business.
  • Develops and implements a company-wide performance management system. Maintains and updates job requirements and job descriptions for all positions. Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and develop employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors.
  • Establishes and maintains a compensation plan by conducting periodic industry surveys; schedules and conducts job evaluations; prepares compensation budgets; recommends, plans, and implements pay structure revisions; administers salary data in HR-Payroll system and schedules individual pay actions; administers unemployment forms, employment and income verification requests.
  • Manages company Safety, Health and Welfare Benefit programs. Administers employee benefits programs and informs employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to management; keeping employee handbook up to date; directing the processing of benefit claims; designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs.
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting and documenting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings. Monitors the tracking of OSHA required data and is an important point of contact with the Union at Milton, as well as all Union-related communications
  • Formulates and maintains employee relations guidelines by adhering, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures for the entire organization.
  • Maintains historical human resource records by identifying and implementing an appropriate HRIS system that will make available past and current records and support management decision making about organization-wide issues; maintains employee personnel files.
  • Maintains professional, technical and policy knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • HR Director will manage the human resource staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. The HR Director will counsel, develop and discipline HR staff employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Develops and monitors an annual budget that includes HR services, employee recognition, community events, and company philanthropic giving.

Requirements

The ideal Candidate will have five+ years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources positions. He/She will have an overall knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, recruitment, organizational development, employee relations, safety, employee engagement and employee development. The Candidate will have a demonstrated ability to serve as a knowledgeable resource to the executive management team.

 The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics:

  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources recognition and engagement processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop HR department staff members.
  • Evidence of the ability to coach organization managers in practicing a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent computer skills in a MS Office environment. Knowledge of Excel and skills in Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
  • Active affiliation with appropriate Human Resources networks and organizations that provide access to HR leaders in successful companies and organizations that practice effective Human Resources Management.

 EDUCATION:

An undergraduate degree is required, preferably in Human Resources, Business or Organizational Development.
