Job Description

Mathnasium seeks a seasoned Director of Human Resources who will actively support its aggressive growth strategy through talent acquisition and retention, its commitment to assist franchise partners with talent acquisition, and its overall commitment to K-12 math education globally.

Responsibilities / Essential Functions

The Director of HR will report to the VP of People, and will demonstrate the ability to:

  • Build relationships with colleagues and industry professionals
  • Implement an effective performance management system along with rewards and recognition programs, employee engagement and effective mechanisms to receive and act on staff feedback
  • Work with the VP to develop and lead a Human Resources strategy across the entire organization in support of the firm’s growth goals
  • Assist leadership in identification, recruitment, and development of Key Talent across the organization; support Key Talent goals via developing job descriptions and competency matrices, advising on compensation, interviewing and advising hiring managers
  • Collaborate with internal teams to provide direction, coaching, feedback and mentoring on the development, execution, and measurement of individual and team performance
  • Work with our franchise partners to develop a repeatable process to identify talent needs, analyze local workforce, and select and retain staff
  • Partner with Marketing/Advertising to develop collateral materials based on a branding strategy for Mathnasium as an Employer of Choice, leverage talent relationship marketing that drives the development of a diverse talent pool of qualified and highly-skilled applicants (i.e., website development, e-marketing, and candidate communications); manage and measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns to achieve Human Resources objectives
  • Counsel and coach managers on employee-related issues, appropriately investigate and resolve grievances and complaints
  • Manage a small staff, handle and oversee all aspects of HR Resources, Legal Compliance, HR systems vendor relationships and special projects, data analysis and reporting
  • Manage day-to-day HR functions including payroll processing, benefits and systems administration, employment records, employee communications and events

 

Requirements

The successful candidate would possess all or some of the following:

  • Minimum 10 years’ progressive leadership experience in a human resources capacity
  • HR industry-related certification such as PHR/SPHR
  • Advanced degree
  • Professional Background in benefits and compensation
  • Expertise with HR-related technology/systems
  • Global expertise: Europe, Canada, Asia
  • Experience with college recruiting
  • Franchising or professional services firm experience
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Familiarity with Paycom HCM System a plus
  • Ability to work strategically while maintaining attention to detail
SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Preferred
