JOB SUMMARY:       This position promotes and supports the learning experience of Marian University students by planning and implementing policies related to all phases of human resources

operations.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Oversees activities related to employment recruitment, interviewing, selecting, hiring, issuing of ranked faculty employment contracts and staff letters of employment, onboarding, and out-processing.
  2. Coordinates new employee orientation.
  3. Counsels supervisors and employees on employment related issues.
  4. Maintains University employee demographic data used for generating internal reports and for legally required government reports and external surveys (IPEDS, AAUP, Yaffe Executive Compensation, WAICU Executive, CUPA Administrative, CUPA Professional).
  5. Oversees management of benefit programs which includes; life, long-term disability, medical, and dental insurance, flexible spending accounts, and tuition remission and tuition exchange programs. Answers employee questions and resolves issues related to benefits and coverage.
  6. Disseminates benefit information and organizes sessions for annual open enrollment meetings.
  7. Participates in annual audit processes for benefits.
  8. Serves as the retirement plan administrator. Assists employees with paperwork and questions regarding the retirement plan.
  9. Serves as Title IX Deputy Coordinator and performs Title IX investigations as required.
  10. Analyzes the University’s compensation policies and salary structures to comply with legal requirements and to establish competitive pay rates.  
  11. Processes FMLA requests, communications and related paperwork.
  12. Assists Budget Director in managing annual salary budgeting process via position control.
  13. Prepares and monitors human resources budget.
  14. Maintains a positive work environment by cooperating in a professional manner with the University community.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Communications or related field; or relevant certification; master’s degree preferred. Five to seven years of experience in human resources or benefits, including supervising staff. Strong oral and written communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Willingness to support the Mission and Core Values of the University.
