JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Director of Human Resources

Reports To: Vice President of Human Resources and Administrative Services

FLSA Status: Exempt

Basic Function: Works with senior management to create and maintain an employee culture that supports AMP’s mission, vision and values; administers human resources functions in accordance with labor laws and AMP policies.

Essential Functions:

1. Oversees maintenance of all confidential human resource files and legally required personnel records.

2. Manages/supervises the HR Generalist, HR Coordinator, Secretary and Secretary/Receptionist positions.

3. Oversees AMP recruitment efforts and responsible for the management of the company career site and applicant tracking system.

4. Coordinates and administers performance management, incentive, staff training and developmental programs. Assists with the selection of management consultants for staff training and developmental plans.

5. Responsible for working with managers and staff to create, revise and update job descriptions. Coordinate benchmarking efforts. Assist with identification of job related competencies and skill gaps.

6. Directs employment related programs, policies, procedures and controls.

7. Assists with annual labor and human resources budget process.

8. Oversees AMP Internship Program.

9. Consults with employees regarding eligibility for health and dental insurance, leaves of absence and other benefits including worker’s compensation and unemployment compensation. Manages annual open enrollment process and wellness program initiatives.

10. Oversees tracking of employee leave such as sick, vacation, FMLA and disability. Responsible for FMLA notifications and tracking of associated paperwork.

11. Oversees the employee orientation program.

11. Updates the MESA/AMP Employee Handbooks and communicates changes to staff.

12. Conducts exit interviews.

13. Administers DOT required drug and alcohol testing program for commercial drivers.

14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:

1. A four year degree in human resources or organizational management or four year degree in business management with a major in human resources is desired; may consider a third or fourth year student pursuing a degree in human resources.

2. A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive corporate human resources experience is required.

3. Knowledge of human resources processes, procedures, and documentation. PHR/SPHR certification is preferred.

4. Must possess excellent interpersonal, managerial and supervisory skills.

5. Must be able to work independently with minimum of direction.
