The Baldwin School is seeking a dynamic human resource professional to lead the School’s Human Resource function. Reporting to the CFO, the Director is responsible for recruitment and on-boarding, management of employee issues and concerns, performance management, policy development and compliance, and compensation and benefits administration. A trusted resource in addressing all personnel matters, the Director ensures the consistent implementation of School personnel policies and procedures. The Director of Human Resources supports School leadership in evaluating the direction of Baldwin’s compensation practices, legal compliance, and faculty and staff engagement. The Director is an adept communicator experienced with the full employment lifecycle, with a strong knowledge of payroll and benefits administration.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate all employee benefit programs including; 403(b) Retirement Plan, STD, LTD, health and dental, life/AD&D and COBRA;
  • Process monthly payroll;
  • Ensure the consistent implementation of all applicable personnel policies and procedures;
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws including, but not limited to, FMLA, ADA, Sexual Harassment, OSHA, Worker’s Compensation, and FLSA and ERISA.
  • Support the School’s mission to create a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace;
  • Coordinate performance management processes, including annual performance evaluation programs for all faculty and staff members;
  • Manage recruitment, including posting job openings, coordinating candidate visits, conducting interviews, providing input into hiring recommendations for faculty and staff positions, conducting new hire on-boarding as well as employee off-boarding;
  • Manage employee separation process for both voluntary and involuntary terminations.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of faculty and staff compensation plans;
  • Maintain files to include contracts, clearances and performance-related documentation;
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, including pay rates, withholdings, and vacation and PTO days;
  • Manage the annual faculty contracting and staff compensation-setting process.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7-10 years of increasingly responsible human resources experience;
  • SHRM certification (SPHR or PHR) highly desirable;
  • Demonstrated skill in addressing and resolving employee issues;
  • Extensive knowledge of human resource principles, procedures and best practices;
  • Ability to maintain poise and confidentiality in all situations;
  • Must be detail-oriented, with outstanding interpersonal communication skills;
  • Ability to accurately interpret procedures and regulations along with the ability to ensure appropriate implementation;
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, functions and demands;
  • Appreciation for the mission and values of an independent girls’ school;
  • Desire to actively participate in the daily life of the School;
  • Experience in an educational or other mission-driven organization preferred.
