Position Purpose:


The role of the Director of Human Resources, Business Partnering is to partner strategically and proactively with executive leadership to translate business objectives into effective and sustainable organizational solutions and outcomes, to drive change management and talent management, to assist in the alignment of the organization towards business strategy and Essilor’s mission, to ensure the right talent with the right skills are in place at the right time, and to continuously ensure that the level of resources within business units are aligned appropriately to meet ever-changing business needs. Manages directly and/or indirectly team of 2 HR Generalists. Client groups include commercial, operations, and support organizations within Essilor of America.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Understand business units supported and translate business strategies and objectives into long-term, sustainable organizational and people initiatives that support the overarching strategy and Essilor mission;
  • Partner with and coach business leadership to facilitate organizational and cultural change;
  • Coach business leaders on best practices of building an effective team in conjunction with the appropriate HR expertise;
  • Facilitate the creation of strong communication plans to ensure clarity, understanding, and alignment for business unit initiatives;
  • Act as a catalyst for building organizational effectiveness within assigned business units;
  • Influence, advise and support the cultural and people aspects of the organization that drive improvements in business efficiency through flexible plans for growth;
  • Build management capability that supports an open, inclusive, values-based environment in alignment with our Principles & Values;
  • Build the capability and expectation of the role of senior leaders in talent management;
  • Develop and execute shared talent objectives with senior leaders and to assess year over year progress.
  • Define and implement strategies in conjunction with Talent Management that support readiness of talent to meet business needs, including, strong workforce planning, succession planning, building of talent pipelines/bench for each business unit, identification and development planning for emerging talent and critical positions domestically and globally, performance management, people reviews, and calibration.
  • Analyze needs assessments to identify training needs for the client group, as well as individual coaching needs.  Participate in evaluation and monitoring of the success of training programs.  Provide follow-up support to ensure goals that are agreed upon as part of the management coaching are being maintained on an on-going basis.
  • Partner with Centers of Excellence (COEs) to equip business unit leaders with appropriate tools, insight, and information to effectively manage their team in alignment with their short term and long-term business and people plans, and Essilor’s strategy;




  • A minimum of ten years of HR generalist experience required, including at least 5 years HR management level experience working with senior leaders of large commercial, operations, and/or support organizations—preferably within a global company.
  • Bachelors in Business Administration / Human Resources or related fields required
  • Masters Degree strongly preferred
  • SHRM-SCP certification required within 1 year of employment
  • Strong Change Management; ability to embrace, lead, and manage change effectively
  • Strong Talent Management experience; workforce planning, succession planning, emerging talent and bench development
  • Well-developed consulting, collaboration, teambuilding, and influencing skills
  • Excellent leadership, project management, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must possess sound judgment and strong business acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully partner with business unit leadership and HR Centers of Excellence to develop and implement winning business and human resources strategies
  • Must possess the ability to manage complex organizational structure and issues, and competing priorities effectively
  • Must possess managerial courage; and act proactively and effectively in introducing alternative perspectives
  • Excellent consulting skills including the ability to develop out-of-the box solutions to meet aggressive business priorities
  • Ability to operate in a positive and proactive manner and lead by example in accordance with Essilor’s Principles & Values
  • Viewed as credible with demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and inspire trust throughout HR and the organization
  • Prior management experience leading and developing other HR non-exempt and exempt professionals
  • Ability to travel 25%
