Punchh is seeking an experienced Director of HR and People Operations based in the San Mateo headquarters office who will lead the development, implementation and administration of best practices, policies and strategies of all HR functions. First and foremost, we’re seeking a Director of HR and People Operations with a demonstrated commitment to a high level of integrity and confidentiality. He/she will be a key strategic business partner providing hands-on operational and strategic human resources leadership for our company across multiple domestic locations and abroad. He/she will be a significant contributor to build upon and enhance the culture, create a phenomenal experience for our employees, and support the recruiting head and hiring managers in their HR needs.

Initially reporting to the CEO, he/she will leverage experience in HR and people operations, and lead the evaluation of necessary tools and systems (HRIS, Performance Management, Employee Rewards, Benefits, etc) with particular focus in the following areas:

Compensation Strategy/Performance Management Planning

  • Develop a solid performance management strategy and process as well as employee development programs.
  • Compensation strategy and development of salary structure and the variable pay systems
  • Competitive market salary research and salary studies to help establish solid salary practices and salary bands that help to recruit and retain superior talent.

People operations - onboarding of new hires, hiring process, and legal/compliance matters relevant to hiring and employees

  • Develop HR policies and employee handbook
  • Develop, advocate and train hiring managers on best practices in interviewing - policies to ensure compliance and to mitigate liability
  • Collaborate/partner with employment lawyers and assist the management team with guidance on visa issues and process
  • Collaborate/partner with Benefits and HR provider to formalize legally required harassment training and implement processes to address potential issues
  • Ensure policies that comply with all existing governmental and labor, legal and government reporting requirements including any related to EEO, ADA, FMLA, OSHA, etc

Overall Responsibilities

  • Partner/collaborate with leadership team to align and execute HR strategies in support of business objectives in all business locations including internationally.
  • Partner with Head of Recruiting to support our growing, global recruiting needs.
  • Primary HR business partner for operational groups - responsible for monitoring organizational structure and staffing levels to accomplish company goals and objectives
  • Provide advice, counsel and coaching to employees regarding HR policies and procedures
  • Champion company culture and enforce team spirit by supporting company and team events and outings
  • Implement and oversee compensation plans, including: commission plans, bonus plans, and overall equity compensation philosophy
  • Develop and oversee performance management process, including goal setting and performance assessment, feedback and training processes
  • Develop and implement appropriate change management and succession plans
  • Implement and monitor adherence to HR policies, procedures and practices
  • Oversee payroll process, ensuring consistency and accuracy
  • Evaluate and oversee administration of benefit programs and recommend improvement
  • Investigate, resolve and/or coordinate grievances, workplace disputes, harassments or ethics violation and disputes
  • Evaluate HRIS solutions to improve human resources data management and processes
  • Partner with finance team to perform periodic cost and productivity analyses for overall employee base
  • Oversee and maintain company policies and procedures, including company’s core values and ethics policies
  • Ensure company stays in compliance with all HR related Government regulations and guidelines.

Requirements

Requirements

  • 7+ years of HR leadership experience in high-growth SaaS software companies headquartered in the Bay Area with multiple US and international offices and employees
  • Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other HR programs.
  • Team player with a collaborative leadership style and a proven ability to build, mentor and retain quality employees in a fast-paced work environment. Ability to work autonomously.
  • Knowledge of employment, wage and salary laws and regulations across multiple states and countries. General knowledge of employment laws and practices across the US
  • Ability to analyze and assess training and development needs. Knowledge of organizational development theory and practices is helpful
  • Experience in design, development and implementation of compensation plans and benefit programs
  • Ability to negotiate and manage dispute resolution processes. Experience in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures
  • Knowledge of information systems used in human resources applications. Experience with HRIS systems
  • Exceptional senior level communication and presentation skills
  • Willingness to travel as necessary
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or Organization Development or equivalent. Masters degree preferred
  • SPHR or PHR certification required.
