Director of Employee Relations

The Director of Employee Relations will develop and execute strategies to improve employee and manager relationships. This position will serve as adviser and subject matter expert to leadership in areas of HR to include, employee on-boarding, off-boarding, employee relations, and performance management. This position will develop and implement HR processes to ensure standardization, legal compliance. Supervise and mentor Employee Relations Manager.

Job Specific and Unique Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1.         Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws                                                                                    

2.         Ability to effectively provide expertise related to workforce planning                                                                                   

3.         Ability to operate independently, understanding when to escalate issues of importance                                                                           

4.         Highly effective communicator with the ability to clearly and concisely articulate ideas, concepts and proposals to staff, health system employees and executive team.                                                                        

5.         Strong healthcare or service industry business acumen.                                                                         

6.         Ability to provide strong leadership                                                                                

7.         Ability to manage and navigate the gray and competing interest of multiple vested parties                                                                          

8.         Creates credibility as a strategic business partner                                                                                  

9.         Strong understanding of workforce planning practices/metrics and ability to use data to optimize the planning                                                                                 

 

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities                                                                                    

1.         Develops and implements key initiates in the workforce planning and employment                                                                             

2.         Recommend and implement NGHS strategic goals and objectives within the workforce planning and employment 

                                                                                   

3.         Responsible for the overall management, design, communication and compliance of initiatives related to workforce planning and employment           

                                                                       

4.         Prepares and manages annual budget for areas of responsibility                                                                        

5.         Demonstrate an understanding of a competitive healthcare market related to current trends within compensation and benefits

                                                                                   

6.         Ensures processes, plans and programs for workforce planning and employment are efficient and serve to meet the strategic goals of organization     

                                                                       

7.         Directs and delegates work to management team                                                                                  

8          Foster positive and collaborative relationship with all leaders resolving conflict as needed                                                                                

9          Drive a culture of engagement, performance and positive employee relations                                                                                   

10.       Successfully manage multiple priorities under tight timeframes                                                                           

 


Requirements

Minimum Job Qualifications

Licensure- PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP-preferred

                        

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred

Seven years of generalist HR experience. Four years of Human Resources Management experience.
