The Director of Content Strategy reports to the Assistant Vice President of ACE Professional Learning. This position coordinates the Division’s content strategy including the creation, commission, and curation of content for leadership programming and division initiatives to support leaders and their higher education institutions.

Essential Job Duties or Tasks

  • Develop and implement a content strategy for the ACE Engage platform, ACE’s peer-to-peer learning platform for higher education leaders.
  • Partner with colleagues in the learning and engagement division to establish a comprehensive andragogy for programs, events, and self-directed learning.
  • Guide the conceptualization and development of high quality courses and knowledge assets for ACE Engage that reflect best practices in delivering microlearning. This work includes collaborating with colleagues in the division to identify content that higher education leaders need to promote innovation and high quality practice; defining learning outcomes and experiences that will build knowledge, promote learning, and enable action; identifying and preparing subject matter experts to serve as content developers, speakers and facilitators; facilitating content production including microcourses, podcasts, toolkits, and videos; overseeing the commissioning and curation of content from outside of ACE.
  • Oversee and lead the governance of content creation, commissioning and curation for ACE Engage. Establish and oversee the workflow and policies for requesting, creating, editing, publishing, and retiring content.
  • Support partnership development and oversee the implementation of content partnerships that align with ACE’s content strategy and Learning and Engagement division goals.
  • Assist the Office of Advancement as they seek external funding and support for ACE Engage.
  • Promote content responsiveness to the needs of higher education leaders through monitoring of activity on ACE Engage, traditional and social media, findings from ACE’s Knowledge Engine, interaction with leaders, and larger social and business trends.
  • Oversee and manage user engagement initiatives in conjunction with the Associate Director of Community Engagement and associated platform influencers.
  • Supervise the Associate Director of Community Engagement, Instructional Designer, and the Senior Policy Research Analyst.


Education/Experience/Specialized Knowledge and Competency Requirements:


  • Master’s degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with adult learning and instructional design.
  • Experience facilitating active learning in a virtual environment and advanced technical skills in MS Office, Learning Management systems, instructional design platforms, and web-based delivery tools such as Zoom or WebEx.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and design materials within limited time constraints.



  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Education or Related Field or a Doctorate degree.
  • Experience in higher education and start-up or early product development preferred.
  • Experience with oversight of video and audio production preferred.
