General Summary: The Human Resource Director provides overall strategic leadership and drives key Human Resources strategies and execution in all aspects of Human Resources including talent acquisition, employment law compliance, benefits, compensation, employee relations, policy development and implementation, leadership training and coaching for Guthy-Renker Ventures, LLC, and its subsidiaries.  Leads team of 8-9 professionals in 3 locations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provides HR leadership and support to all employees as needed.
  • Develops and leads a team of Human Resource professionals with the goal of earning a high level of credibility as an effective and responsive internal service group that meets the company’s growth plans.
  • Works with Chief Administration Officer and General Counsel to balance corporate and business goals.
  • Develops a mechanism to support the company subsidiaries, working with each CEO to provide broad-based Human Resources and Talent Acquisition services.
  • Develops and implements organizational strategies for the human resources function companywide to align with company business objectives and to continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Human Resource function.
  • Serves as internal coach/consultant to company management team, supervisors, and employees, as needed, on personnel issues that affect performance and business relationships.
  • Ensures employee relations are handled smoothly and accurately.
  • Manages company benefits renewal process including carrier negotiation, plan selections, and contribution strategies.
  • Reviews and oversees the compensation and benefits programs across the company and ensures benefit programs continue to meet the needs of both the employees and the company.
  • Ensures compensation and bonus programs are aligned with organizational objectives and pay-for-performance strategies.
  • Creates a fun and rewarding workplace for all employees. Promotes a positive environment and culture consistent with the core values and goals of each entity.
  • Implements programs, policies and practices designed to enhance employee engagement, reduce turnover, and ensure legal compliance.
  • Responsible for creating a talent acquisition process that attracts and retains “best in class” employees and works with the team to ensure that positions are filled in a timely manner with the most qualified and best culturally aligned candidates.
  • Oversees all training and development needs of the organization and ensures all programs align with company strategies.
  • Responsible for all HR processes within each discipline of Human Resources.
  • Oversees personnel record keeping, HR information systems, and the management of all HR data.
  • Responsible for analyzing and reporting all HR metrics.
  • Responsible for corporate HR budget. Provides input to annual budgets and business plans.
  • Implements and maintains a safe work environment.
  • Maintains current knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments, and applicable laws regarding human resources.

Requirements

  • Minimum of ten years of progressive human resources experience; with at least five years in a management role.

  • Advanced understanding and application of Human Resources disciplines including, Talent Management, Employee Relations, Employee Engagement, Organizational Design, Compensation, Talent Acquisition, and Change Management.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team of HR professionals at three locations.

  • Have a proven track record as an effective manager whose management style is characterized by a hands-on, results orientation.

  • Able to work in a fast pace work environment balancing multiple projects and embracing change.

  • Be a strategic thinker, and will have an ability to contribute at both a strategic and operational level.

  • Knowledge of Federal and California State employment laws.

  • Demonstrated ability and experience working effectively in a self-directed, proactive, results-oriented, fast-paced creative environment across all levels.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, conflict resolution, problem-solving skills.

  • Must have strong leadership, managerial and organizational skills.

  • Good working Knowledge of HRIS systems and specifically ADP WFN.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP (preferred)
