Olin Corporation is hiring a Director, Global Compensation & Benefits to be located at our headquarters in Clayton, Missouri (St Louis area).  This is a Corporate Human Resources position responsible for managing the compensation function on a global level as well as managing health and welfare benefit programs.  This includes developing and directing the implementation of compensation programs that provide a competitive level of pay, motivation and reward to employees. This senior level position understands the organization’s needs and has the ability to recommend the design and implementation of multi-faceted programs. The Global Compensation and US Benefit teams will report to this position.

Olin Corporation is a leading vertically-integrated global manufacturer and distributor of chemical products and a leading U.S. manufacturer of ammunition. Olin Chlor Alkali Products and Vinyls is the world’s leading producer of chlor alkali products and vinyls, the number one supplier of epoxy materials, the number one global seller of membrane caustic soda and chlorinated organics and the number one North American seller of chlorine, bleach and hydrochloric acid.  Winchester's principal manufacturing facilities produce and distribute sporting ammunition, law enforcement ammunition, reloading components, small caliber military ammunition and components and industrial cartridges.

Essential Functions/Basic Duties:

  • Leads the global salary administration/merit budget/variable comp pay planning process
  • Monitors competitive trends in compensation; identify Olin’s position and make recommendations for changes to compensation, rewards and recognition programs
  • Leads the implementation and administration of compensation plans throughout the organization and ensures that all plans and programs are aligned with corporate strategies
  • Assures proper evaluation of jobs through senior levels
  • Participates in benchmarking surveys, conduct salary band/reference level analysis
  • Develops and recommends salary policy strategy and administrative procedures
  • Monitors the effectiveness of programs and recommends modifications
  • Administers special compensation plans as needed
  • Works together with Corporate and Division HR to provide counsel to managers on individual salary treatment
  • Leads compensation related projects as required
  • Administers company’s benefits programs/policies/procedures for benefit programs
  • Develops and maintains relationships with vendors and consultants ensuring quality communication and problem resolution related to international benefits
  • Provides leadership for benefits at Olin sites
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for international HR contacts on international benefits related matters.  Provides quality and timely customer service by answering employee and management questions.
  • Manages plan contract administration and other plan maintenance tasks such as renewals and rate setting
  • Manages and motivates staff; reviews and assesses performance, develops and builds employee skills, supports their professional development and enables employees to optimize their contribution to the department

Requirements

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree* in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience working with benefits
  • Minimum 10 years of compensation experience; demonstrated compensation expertise
  • CCP certification preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with PeopleSoft or other HRIS system and the ability to write queries preferred
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS, and DOL regulations
  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of benefits administration and compliance
  • Demonstrated compensation expertise
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Must have the ability to learn and become proficient with the databases and reporting systems used by vendors
  • Must be able to effectively and professionally interact with internal and external customers, including all levels of management
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational, analytical, communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, problem-solving, leadership, and project management skills
  • Demonstrated thorough understanding of general business operations and processes
  • Must be able to multi-task on a daily basis, manage priorities, be a self-starter, work well under pressure and maintain confidentiality of information
  • Must be able to deliver accurate, timely results and respond to frequent ad hoc requests.
  • Must be team-oriented

 

*Degree must be from a school that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the Secretary of Education of the U.S. Department of Education.
