Our client, Southcoast Health, is seeking a Director, Employee & Labor Relations to join their healthcare family. This position is based in the beautiful coastal town of New Bedford, MA.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources Operations, the Director of Employee & Labor Relations will be responsible for the oversight, direction and administration of employee relations programs and Labor Relations for Southcoast Health. This includes development of labor relations strategy recommendations and acting as a resource within the organization on all employee and labor relations issues.   

  • Supervisory responsibility for assigned personnel and activities including selection, orientation and training of personnel; initiation of personnel action recommendations.
  • Workforce planning and development; fiscal accountability for establishing and controlling operating budget.
  • Conducting employee relations investigations.
  • Development of policies and procedure recommendations.
  • Providing coaching and guidance to Managers on best practices.

Southcoast Health System has become one of the largest and fastest growing hospital systems in the region. Locations include hospitals in Fall River, New Bedford and Wareham, MA, urgent care centers, cancer centers, rehabilitation, lab and VNA, as well as a number of physician practices throughout the South Coast region and Rhode Island.

Requirements

 

  • Master’s Degree in HR, Business Administration or the equivalent education and experience required. HR Certification preferred.
  • Experience at a Director level and previous healthcare experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years relevant and progressive experience with at least 5 years of supervisory experience in employee and labor relations.
  • Minimum of 3 cycles of labor negotiations experience, preferably with the same organization.
  • Must have managed large volume of complex employee relations cases.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership, guidance and collaboration.
  • Strong conflict resolution, decision making and communication skills a must.
