Colorado State University’s Office of Equal Opportunity is seeking a Complaints and Disabilities Coordinator to assist with the University’s management of discrimination, sexual harassment and harassment complaints and provide consultation to employees with disabilities. Primary duties include: provide guidance and address discrimination, sexual harassment and harassment complaints, including under the informal and formal processes; and, evaluate employees to determine if they are individuals with disabilities and assist to determine and implement reasonable accommodations. Adherence to confidentiality is critical.
The Coordinator reports to the Director of the Office of Equal Opportunity. This is a 12-month full-time administrative professional position.

Requirements

Required Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a field demonstrating work with employment issues, including specifically equal access and opportunity, complaints of discrimination or harassment and disabilities, such as Employment or Labor Law, Human Resources, etc.
  • Two years of professional experience working in the areas of equal access and equal opportunity.
  • Experience with investigations and writing reports.
  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with staff, faculty and students in academic and administrative departments and offices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to access, equity and equal employment opportunity procedures, and diversity and inclusion principles and their application to working with employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and perform professionally.
  • Must possess imagination, creativity, and a high level of self-motivation.
  • Must possess strong attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and delivering presentations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

 

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • A Juris Doctor or Master’s degree. Preference for degree in a field demonstrating work with affirmative action, equal opportunity, equal access and disabilities.
  • Experience with mediation, facilitation or conflict resolution techniques.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal and Colorado state laws, regulations, executive orders, court decisions, and issues in the areas of equal employment opportunity, equal access, affirmative action and disabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting complex investigations and writing investigation reports.
  • Work experience in an institution of higher education or a large and complex organization.
  • Experience working with a database tracking complaints.
