Greenberg Traurig, a global law firm, currently has an excellent opportunity for a Compensation Director. The preference is to place the successful candidate in either our Florham Park, NJ or Doral (Miami), FL office. We offer competitive compensation and an excellent benefits package.

 

Position Summary:

The Compensation Director is the key resource for the Firm’s salary and incentive programs for the firm’s business staff throughout the firm, including international offices. The Director develops and implements new and revised compensation programs, policies and procedures to align with the Firm’s goals and competitive practices.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develops compensation strategy and programs to support the attraction, retention, and motivation of employees consistent with applicable country specific regulations and laws and business metrics.
  • Conducts job analysis, prepares job descriptions as needed, and develops and maintains salary structure
  • Acts as a consultant to provide input and review compensation proposals for new hire, promotions, & off-cycle salary increases.
  • Gathers, analyzes and critically reviews benchmark data.
  • Prepares calculations of proposed scenarios for increases.
  • Provides guidance to other members of the HR team on pay decisions.
  • Administers annual year-end compensation planning process (i.e. merit, bonus, promotions, etc.)
  • Develops analytic tools and solutions for maintaining external market competitiveness, internal equity, and legal compliance in conjunction with HR Compliance and the Assistant General Counsel.
  • Analyzes market trends, business metrics, and makes appropriate recommendations.
  • Manages projects such as survey participation and analysis and compensation integration.
  • Develops and documents procedures to streamline processes and ensure compliance. Coordinates with HR managers to educate managers.
  • Works with HRIS to ensure that the HRIS software system meets compensation needs and is updated to reflect changes to salary structures, bonus programs, etc.
  • Communicates salary and bonus programs in new-hire orientation.
  • Assists HR managers and other managers with compensation-related issues.

 

Skills & Competencies:

  • Business acumen
  • Strong communication and consultation skills
  • Must be highly skilled in compensation analysis techniques.
  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • Strong knowledge of compensation principles components and applicable legal parameters in US and international office locations
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk from work station, to desk or to go to various offices to retrieve assignments. This position may also be sedentary and require the employee to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use a phone, enter data into a computer, handle objects, etc.
  • Position also requires the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.

Requirements

Qualifications & Prior Experience:

  • Ten years of experience in the analysis, design and/or administration of compensation programs
  • Experience in law firm setting or professional services background required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with global compensation programs a plus.
