Job Description: 

Reporting to the EVP of Human Resources, the Compensation and Benefits Leader has the primary responsibility for designing, developing, implementing, communicating, and managing the salary, bonus, and benefits packages for B&G Foods employees (excluding executive compensation). This position will ensure all compensation & benefits (C&B) plan designs, policies & practices, and processes & systems are compliant with all government regulations and corporate requirements, while monitoring industry best practices and costs in order to remain competitive and sustainable. The scope of this role is primarily on the U.S. and Canada, with secondary oversight responsibility for Mexico.


  • Lead the benchmarking, data analysis, program development, and operational/administrative processes for broad-based compensation, medical, dental, disability, and other health & welfare benefits offerings
  • Design and manage analytics dashboard/reporting, providing insights and recommendations that drive benefits value and design considerations
  • Oversee risk management, governance and compliance for all C&B plans including government filings and associated employee communications
  • Effectively manage all external partnerships with brokers, service providers, consultants
  • Provide information, analysis, and implementation support for all M&A transactions from diligence through integration
  • Develop and execute a communications / education strategy to ensure that employees understand, value, and effectively utilize our total rewards / compensation and benefits programs; provide communications and tools to support benefits Annual Enrollment and other core processes
  • Partner with Finance to ensure proactive and aligned financial management of all C&B programs
  • Prepare business cases, presentations, and reports as necessary to support recommendations and address needs of various internal & external stakeholders (e.g. senior management, Board, employees, etc.)
  • Conduct periodic market surveys to stay current with external trends that will enable B&G Foods to attract, retain, and motivate the talent needed to drive our business priorities 
  • Provide consultation and guidance to HR Business and People Managers regarding job descriptions, job evaluations, and appropriate internal/external compensation benchmarks to ensure sound and equitable compensation-related decisions
  • In partnership with Sales and Operations leaders, support the creation and modification of performance scorecards and sales incentive plans to ensure plans are driving desired outcomes 
  • Partner with HR and Payroll management in planning, developing, and implementing performance evaluation systems, year-end merit and bonus recommendations, processes, communications and analyses 
  • Make recommendations to HR leadership on rewards and recognition programs to remain competitive and encourage desired business results and behaviors consistent with our core values R HR


Experience, Skills, Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 10+ years of relevant experience required, MBA preferred
  • CCP and/or CEBS certification highly preferred
  • Prior people management experience is strongly preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of benefit plans (concepts, plan designs, etc.), compensation strategies, global regulatory environment and applicable laws affecting C&B plans
  • Superior analytical and modelling skills
  • Proactive leader who can recommend (business case), develop and deliver comprehensive solutions 
  • Strong understanding of external marketplace and dynamics influencing business; stays abreast of trends and changes in the regulatory environment
  • Understands and applies effective change-management principles, including leadership and management of change programs/methodologies needed to drive large-scale change processes
  • Promotes diversity of thought and holds teams accountable to inclusive behavior
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills required, in particular Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, etc.), Word and PowerPoint
  • Superior analytical skills, financial modelling, and attention to detail with a keen interest in understanding and communicating data and insights
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload to anticipate and meet deadlines while helping key decision makers make sound choices
  • Continually strives to learn from mistakes and increase his/her knowledge & perspective
  • Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to changing business demands
  • Strong business acumen and broad perspective to understand how this role affects the bigger picture
