The Comp + Benefits Manager has three main responsibilities

Design ongoing total rewards strategy to support and sustain a high performing culture that attracts, motivates, retains and rewards at the field and corporate level

Lead the implementation and administration of comp + benefits program in a timely and legally compliant way

Evaluate the effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines and procedures

Expected Deliverables

Design ongoing total rewards strategy to support and sustain a high performing culture that attracts, motivates, retains and rewards

  • analyze and make compensation and benefits recommendations using internal and external data, including: industry trends, best practices, tax and legislative requirements
  • collect and leverage feedback from existing employees to define changes and evolutions to total rewards approach, at both the field and corporate level
  • design and manage common compensation components, including salary structure evaluation and design, merit pay processes, job classifications, salary budget review, and market compensation analyses for both corporate and hourly population
  • design and manage benefits programs, potentially to include: health, 401k, life, disability, medical savings accounts, paid time off, and voluntary plans
  • own responsibility for compliance with current and future laws in the area of compensation and benefits in partnership with People Ops and Risk team, including FLSA, ERISA and ACA
  • help own performance management process system design & management

Lead the implementation and administration of comp + benefits program in a timely and legally compliant way

  • lead and administer all incentive plans, including benefits open enrollment, ongoing new employee benefits enrollment, annual audits and all refinements to compensation, benefit and other plans
  • develop and document procedures to streamline processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and work with HR managers to educate teams
  • prepare board of directors/compensation committee materials, including analysis of market/peer company compensation practices In partnership with advisors and senior executive leadership
  • manage vendor/partner relationships, including but not limited to compensation/benefits/retirement/LOA/workers compensation/ergonomics

Evaluate the effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines and procedures

  • evaluate internal equity of compensation and total rewards program to drive a high-performing culture
  • advise leadership of the impact legislation will have on both the company and associates by analyzing and understanding pending and proposed legislation related to benefits, especially at the hourly level
  • recommend new processes and restructure established processes to ensure they are cost effective and consistent with compensation trends and corporate objectives
  • provide data analysis and ROI on total rewards plan

Desired Traits

  • Meticulous attention to detail with an appreciation of complexity and risk
  • Natural problem solver with a passion for creating simple solutions
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Finance preferred
  • Experience administering compensation and benefits for the US
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills a must
  • In-depth compensation design and administration experience
  • Experience assessing jobs/positions under FLSA exemption guidelines
  • Natural curiosity

Desired Experience

  • 3-5 years experience working with HR processes and policies for a multi-state employer, ideally with a large hourly population
  • 3-5 years experience managing large scale, cross-functional projects
  • 3-5 years experience designing compensation plans
  • 2-3 years experience building partnerships and negotiating contracts with vendors
  • 1-2 years experience designing and managing ACA compliant benefit programs
