OUR NEXT CHIEF DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

We are seeking an experienced Development professional with a demonstrated track record of growing a portfolio of donors to increase giving and engagement. ULEC is seeking a strategic thinker who can leverage the legacy of the organization and track our record of success to expand and diversify its funding base. The ideal candidate will be someone passionate about social and economic justice, with an entrepreneurial spirit and desire to grow ULEC fundraising efforts now and into the future. This role reports to the President & CEO and serves as a member of the leadership team.    

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Identifying, defining and acquiring funding resources to the League
  • Leading the development and submission of high quality proposals
  • Designing and implementing a comprehensive strategic fund development plan for increasing revenues; building sustainable streams of funding and prospects from individuals, corporations and foundations
  • Creating strategic fund-raising goals and implementing a plan to monitor results
  • Overseeing the planning and execution of special fundraising events and major gift/capital campaigns
  • Monitoring and evaluating all fundraising activities to ensure that the fundraising goals are met
  • Performing marketing related duties that support, enhance and foster fund development
  • Overseeing and maintains funding raising database and tracking systems in "real time"
  • Maintaining ongoing contact with program staff to develop and create opportunities to leverage their outcomes to increase funding
  • Examining ways of packaging and marketing these programs to philanthropic supporters
  • Responsible for maintaining close working relationships with the Board. Provide support, prepare and strategically deploy Chief Executive Officer, Board Chair and Board Members with key potential donors from all constituencies
  • Serving as liaison on Board committee(s) that focus and/or support fundraising
  • Developing policies and procedures which reflect ethical fundraising practices

Requirements

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

The ideal candidate will possess the following distinguishing characteristics and competencies:

  • Fundraising Excellence/ Acumen: Proven in depth extensive experience and understanding of the fundraising/philanthropic landscape in New Jersey
  • High Energy and commitment to ULEC’s mission
  • Builder of Collaborative Relationships- the ability to develop, maintain and strengthen partnerships with all stakeholders
  • Fostering Teamwork- the ability to work and desire to work cooperatively with other on team: as a team leader can demonstrate interest, skill and success in getting groups to work together
  • Results Oriented –the ability to focus on his/her desired results as well as others
  • Strategic Thinker-Using our SWOT analysis, to formulate a fundraising strategy that maximizes philanthropic investments  
  • Communication Proficiency and Excellence (oral, written, persuasive) Proven in depth experience of leading high performing communication functions. Understanding of marketing trends and brand awareness is a plus
  • Participating in organizational-wide initiatives as required
  • A Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of relevant experience
