The major objectives of the Human Resources Coordinator position are to support Acres Group and any Acres companies in the areas of recruiting and training of hourly personnel, assisting with facility-based human resources administration, safety program development and implementation, event planning, and incident management. In conjunction with the Facility VPs and Director of HR. 


  • Effective leader to manage and provide guidance. Responsible for motivating and holding field staff accountable daily.
    • This includes creating an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture.
    • Support day-to-day operation.
    • Discover training needs and provide coaching.
    • Listen to feedback and resolve any issues or conflicts.
  • Effectively process Incident Reports including incident investigation, employee disciplinary follow-up, computer data entry, management reporting, taking injured employees for medical attention, and assisting them with translation and case management, maintaining close communication with injured employees, facilitating light duty return to work, filing claims with insurance and coordinate with insurance adjustors as necessary.
  • Additional safety responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Conduct random in-field safety inspections, a minimum of one per month.
    • Conduct random direct report site visits, minimum of one per month.
    • Conduct monthly safety committee meetings.
    • Maintain OSHA 300 Log.
  • Snow responsibilities include recruiting snow workers and independent contractors, processing applicants and Modeco IDs, facilitating annual snow certification and other snow training programs such as defensive driving and assist with snow dispatch as needed.
  • Manage human resources functions relative to the field staff:
    • Recruit and hire hourly field staff based on needs communicated from the Facility VP/Branch Manager & production managers,
    • Create and conduct hourly training presentations.
    • Conduct new employee orientation training including specialized training for Crew Leaders. Manage safety mentor training for all returning employees as well as returning Crew Leaders. Other trainings include supervisory, defensive driving, incident trends, first aid and bloodborne pathogens.
    • Organize and process all employee documentation for layoffs & returns from layoff.
    • Maintain hourly employee and DQF (Driver Qualification Files) and all facility medical files; insure the completion of all necessary drug screens (new hire & post-accident), random DOT drug screens and medical exam cards
    • Conduct exit interviews.
    • Support H2B employee permitting process.
    • Assist with adherence to union requirements including step-up pay, communication with the Union regarding progressive discipline.
  • Human Resources special projects; focusing on completing HR annual strategic goals and rolling calendar items.
  • Assist in the development and administration of company policies and procedures. Assure compliance with government regulations including DOT, OSHA, FMLA, HIPPA etc. annual fire extinguisher certification, facility fire inspections, participate in committee work for continuous improvement.
  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship and positive image in the industry through professional communication and interaction with customers, vendors, your manager, fellow employees, etc.
  • Plan weekly and daily activities in advance to ensure efficient time use and positive end results.
  • Perform quality work that is consistent with Acres professional quality standards, including attending to the details.
  • Execute general office duties including making copies, sending faxes, filing, etc.
  • Fulfill Human Resources administrative responsibilities.




  • Ability to read, write and speak both English and Spanish. Written translation abilities required.
  • Possess a high sense of ethics and discretion.
  • The ability to effectively initiate, pursue and complete multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Background operating a Human Service Information System.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule (i.e. 5:30am-3:30pm twice a week and 8:00am – 5:00pm three times a week as well as occasional weekends for job fairs).




  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources Management, business administration or related field required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, both verbal and written is REQUIRED
  • Strong principles, management skills, and people skills. Experienced in working with manager and field laborer employees.
  • Five to seven years' experience gained through increasingly responsible management positions within Human Resources.
  • Previous HR operations experience - process improvements, establishing best practices, etc.
  • Must be able to work effectively in an agile, fast paced, team environment.
  • Must be effective and creative in problem solving.
  • Demonstrated interest in Professional Landscape Industry and willingness to learn about company.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Preferred
