The Benefit Analyst administers, coordinates, and implements the Company’s benefit plans and programs to ensure legal compliance. The benefit plans and programs include, but are not limited to, medical, dental, vision, COBRA, disability, life insurance, leave administration and 401(k) programs. This position is the first line of support for employees with questions concerning benefits, new hire benefit enrollment and claim assistance. This role will impact the Company’s ability to sustain its position as an Employer of Choice.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conducts new hire benefit orientation. Serves as a resource for employees on selection and applicability of benefits. Interprets and advises employees on benefit changes that impact coverage.
  • Interprets summary plan descriptions and ensures all employees, as well as the Human Resources Team, understand the plan details. Provides training and guidance required to ensure consistent, accurate, and reliable information is disseminated.
  • Facilitates the Open Enrollment process; interprets and advises employees on benefit changes that impact coverage as well as assisting, developing and conducting employee communication and education programs.
  • Oversees retirement program including enrollment, separation and changes. Participates in quarterly 401k review, serves as Plan Administrator and is an advisor to the 401(k) Committee. 
  • Works with management and employees to process and support all leaves of absence including FMLA, ADA, medical, parental, etc. while ensuring legal compliance at both the state and federal level.
  • Develops communication and marketing of wellness offerings and events. Composes employee newsletter articles with respect to wellness programs.
  • Coordinates and maintains broker relations and strategy meetings. Partners with the Director of Human Resources to develop presentations and proposals for the executive management team regarding carrier changes, plan design changes and other offerings.
  • Provides high-quality analytic solutions to improve processes and procedures while ensuring compliance with the Affordable Care Act, HIPAA, and other federal and state regulations.
  • Responsible for maintaining and ensuring that all Business Units are compliant with State, Federal and Contractor labor poster requirements.
  • Ensures timely completion of annual compliance testing and reporting. This includes, but is not limited to, 401k discrimination testing, Flexible Spending (FSA) discrimination testing, 5500 reporting, EEO-1 reporting and annual affirmative action plans.
  • Participates in annual program review process and recommends changes as appropriate. Assists with evaluating present programs through research, surveys, and analysis of benefit trends to ensure plans are competitive and current; achieving desired competitive market position and other goals identified by Cascade.
  • Maintains data integrity and enforces consistent data mapping across all systems. This includes developing and running audit queries, analyzing data, automating processes and developing and implementing methods to ensure root source data quality.
  • Conducts routine audits of various HR and Benefits records / files to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Analyzes data and costs and provides reports and metrics to senior management as requested.
  • Performs monthly reconciliation with insurance vendors and third-party administrators to ensure accurate eligibility, funding and invoice payment.
  • Acts as a liaison to manage various employee engagement programs including, but not limited to, anniversary celebrations and employee recognition programs.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, human resources or related field of study
  • CEBS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist) or CBP (Certified Benefits Professional) certification a plus.
  • Five (5) years related experience with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in Benefits.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems required.
  • Familiarity with Plan Source Benefit System is highly desired.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 with advanced Excel skills required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate data-driven metrics.
  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others. Ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues across geographic regions.
  • General knowledge of compensation practices including, but not limited to; salary ranges and structures, is highly desired.
