Job Description:

The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University is seeking an energetic, creative thinker to join a dynamic team of professionals working in the Dean’s office, Tempe campus. The position’s portfolio will contain diverse and complex administrative responsibilities, most of which will be sensitive and confidential in nature requiring considerable independence, judgement and skill. The successful candidate will be forward-thinking, work independently and with a team, and have contact with high-level administrators within the Fulton Schools.

 

In general, the Associate Director for HR/Compensation will oversee and direct Human Resource functions for the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering to include compensation strategies and analysis, employee relations, recruitment strategies (external and internal), payroll, employee development and evaluation, and HR data analysis.

 

Salary Range:

$45,650 - $105,000 per year, DOE

Essential Duties:

Payroll: Oversees established payroll processes for the Fulton Schools to ensure compliance with university, state and federal requirements.

 

Compensation/Performance Management: Works with the School/Unit HR Administrators to implement and update the Fulton School’s staff compensation strategy and to manage the Performance Management Plan structure and process including job descriptions and outcomes.

 

Employee Relations: Works closely and in conjunction with the Office of Human Resources (OHR) to advise, interpret and provide direction to management and staff on university rules and procedures. Works closely with the ASU Office of Human Resources to resolve or assist with the resolution of sensitive human resource issues.

 

Represents the college/department and serves on various department and university committees.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND seven (7) years of related administrative experience, which includes four (4) years of supervisory experience; OR, Eleven (11) years of related administrative experience, which includes four (4) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

 

Desired Qualifications:

•Evidence of Human Resources professional certification (SHRM, World at Work, HRCI)

•Demonstrated knowledge of the concepts of employee relations

•Experience developing/updating staff job descriptions for positions in a broad range of functional areas

•Experience in higher education

•Experience with data warehouse

•Demonstrated advanced skills with Excel

•Experience with systems such as myReports, PeopleSoft, Kenexa, Docuware

 

Working Environment:

•Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking.

•Use office equipment including a desktop computer.

•Lift up to 20 pounds.

•Communicate to perform essential duties.
