Assistant Human Resources Director

Hennepin Technical College is looking for an Assistant Human Resources Director to complete a dedicated team of professionals serving the largest technical college in Minnesota with campuses in Brooklyn Park and Eden Prairie. This is a strategic leadership position and business partner to all campus divisions, the CHRO, HR Staff, and the System Office.

The purpose of this position is to provide strategic planning, leadership and serve as a business partner to the campus, the CHRO, HR Staff and external clients. The Assistant HR Director will be second in command in the human resources office and will act as CHRO in the CHRO's absence. She/He will manage the day-to-day operations of the human resources office; provide lead work direction, training and coaching to HR Staff. The Assistant HR Director will be a strategic partner with campus leadership, managing projects, leading total quality improvement initiatives, and, providing human resource data to internal and external clients. The Assistant HR Director will provide labor relations advice and counsel to staff and leadership. The Assistant HR Director serves as the designated Affirmative Action Officer and Disability Coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in HR Management or a related field and at least three years of progressive HR experience demonstrating leadership and participation in strategic planning
  • Experience with affirmative action plans and the application of affirmative action in the hiring process
  • Demonstrated experience with accommodation requests under the ADA
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects and rolling out new initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience leading continuous improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience managing data requests and producing reports
  • Proven ability to develop positive working relationships with union officials
  • Experience entering data into and retrieving data from a Human Resource Information System
  • Experience using new technologies to support work
  • Experience using an applicant tracking system
  • Knowledge of employment laws such as FMLA, FLSA, ADA, EEOC, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to interact respectfully with diverse populations

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SPHR or PHR certification
  • Master's degree
  • Knowledge of and experience with State of Minnesota or MN State policies, procedures, and compensation systems
  • Experience with visa procedures
