The Assistant Director, Office for Institutional Equity and Compliance (OIEC) assists the Director of the OIEC in ensuring University compliance with applicable laws and regulations relating to the University’s Affirmative Action (AA) and Equal Opportunity (EO) compliance programs. This includes assistance in federal compliance reporting and monitoring equal employment and educational opportunities for faculty, staff, and students. The Assistant Director, OIEC conducts investigations of complaints of alleged discrimination and harassment, prepares the annual VETS 4212 report, and administers the Annual Race/Ethnicity and Veteran Status Survey and the Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability Survey/Disability Accommodation Notification. The Assistant Director, OIEC performs duties of a complex, technical, and confidential nature, and assists with and/or serves in a lead role for a broad range of OIEC responsibilities.

Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required. A Master’s degree in public, business, personnel or human resource administration, social sciences, or a related field or a Juris Doctor (J.D.) is preferred. Earned graduate credit hours from an accredited college or university in the specified areas may substitute on a year-for-year bases for the required experience at a rate of twenty-four (24) earned graduate credit hours for one year of experience.

Experience: At least three years of professional, technical, or consultative experience in human relations, personnel administration, recruitment and selection, complaint investigations, and/or diversity education is required. Experience developing and facilitating training programs is required. Experience with data collection and statistical analysis is required. Experience writing and analyzing reports is required.

Skills: Effective public, interpersonal, and writing communication skills are required. Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Word is required. The ability to learn new software programs, such as web content management, AAP software, applicant tracking system, professional learning management system, etc., is required. Strong organizational and records management skills are required. Strong attention to detail is required. The ability to condense large quantities of narrative information into a meaningful summary and brief others accordingly is required. Must be task-oriented and self-directed. The ability to meet deadlines and work independently with little supervision at times is required. The ability to collaborate with University personnel to complete projects and use best practices is required. The ability to conduct oneself professionally at all times is required. The ability to work with a diverse range of people is required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required. A working knowledge of Banner HRIS and basic principles of web design (within a template) and web accessibility is preferred.
