Goodville Mutual Casualty Company, https://www.goodville.com, a Property and Casualty insurance company in New Holland, Pennsylvania, is seeking an Assistant Director of Human Resources to perform a variety of Human Resources duties in compliance with employment laws and regulations and according to company policies and procedures; assist with hiring process, new employee orientation, employee welfare and benefits, education and training; maintain employee files; coordinate employee related activities and events; supervise assigned staff.

This position will be performed in our New Holland, Pennsylvania office and will:

  • Comply with all applicable employment laws.
  • Maintain employee records and files as required by law and according to company policy.
  • Assist in completing employee health and welfare documents, such as FMLA, COBRA, and benefit enrollment and claim forms.
  • Supervise switchboard operators and front desk operations.
  • Assist in the administration of the employee recruitment process.
  • Prepare new employee orientation packets; welcome and orient new employees; ensure proper practice of exit procedures for terminating employees.
  • Work closely with the Payroll Administrator in maintaining accurate HR and payroll related records.
  • Assist HR Director in ensuring compliance with employment laws.
  • Review company policies and suggest updates to HR Director as needed.
  • Assist employees in answering HR related questions or directing them to the appropriate resource.
  • Schedule employee training and education as requested by management.
  • Order study materials; coordinate and administer onsite testing for company employees.
  • Record and monitor submission of all performance reviews.
  • Serve on HR related committees as requested.
  • Coordinate United Way Meeting, campaign and pledges.
  • Maintain current knowledge of HR laws and regulations through educational opportunities and events.
  • Ensure professional, confidential, and efficient environment in all HR related functions.
  • Plan and coordinate employee related events, including Christmas banquets, picnics, anniversary and retirement lunches, and other events throughout the year.
  • Maintain proper operation of employee reward program.
  • Serve as a backup for the Switchboard Operator.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.


Qualified candidates will have:

  • High School or equivalent education, plus three or more years of job related experience.
  • Human Resources PHR SPHR, or SHRM-CP certifications.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communications skills and abilities.
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to interpret and assist employees in understanding company policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, e-mail and Human Resource administration software.
  • Experience with or aptitude to learn work flow procedures and systems.
  • Experience working with employee benefits programs; specifically, plan administration, plan documents, and claim administration.
  • Experience with HR governmental regulations such as COBRA, ADEA, FMLA, HIPAA, etc.
  • Experience in corporate/employee event planning.
  • Experience in staff supervision and work flow or ability to supervise and maintain work flow efficiency.
