The New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission (NEIWPCC) is seeking candidates for an Assistant Director of Human Resources on full Human Resources Department responsibilities with the potential to take on the Director role in the future. This positon requires a strategic leader able to thrive in a not-for-profit organization navigating the challenges of a rapidly changing employment landscape. In conjunction with the Director of Human Resources, the candidate will manage, evaluate and provide leadership in NEIWPCC’s human resources responsibilities, including: effective employee relations and retention programs, compliance with federal and state regulations, salary administration, recruitment of talented and committed employees, designing training programs, maintaining a strong benefits package. Manage and develop a staff with expertise in human resource. Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
Competencies required are the ability to promote and implement human resource values by planning and managing human resources programs including accomplished written and verbal communication skills; sound judgement and resourcefulness in developing people, processes, and systems; and a combination of cultural sensitivity and emotional intelligence, along with an unpretentious style that will enable them to fit into this collaborative, team oriented organization.
The successful candidate is expected to have master’s degree in human resources or business. Strong operational experience in senior human resources roles required. The right candidate will have a commitment to employee relations, development, and retention, and will have a personality characterized by integrity, adaptability, accountability, and an interest in meeting and exceeding the high standards of the department.
