Position Summary

Regional Human Resources Manager provides human resources support to both the Austin and Houston offices.  Position can be based in the Houston or Austin office and reports to the Director of Administration-Texas Offices.

Key Responsibilities

·         Daily HR Functions:  Provides HR administrative support and leadership to staff and attorneys in Austin and Houston.

·         Employee Relations:  Develops and maintains positive relationships with attorneys and staff; helps prepare staff meetings; seeks training and development opportunities; responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs using discretion and good judgment; escalates unresolved issues to the Director of Administration.

·         Employee Records:  Maintains confidential employee records; processes paperwork; ensures Firmwide HR is kept current on status changes for Texas personnel.

·         Event Planning:  Plan teambuilders, holiday gatherings, and Staff Appreciation Week.

·         Recruiting:  Develops job postings for open positions. Recruits and interviews support staff; evaluates applicant resumes and interviews candidates.  Assists in verifying and compiling information regarding reference, background, and conflicts checks.  Prepares offer letters.  Serves as the key contact for search firms.

·         Diversity & Inclusion:  Promotes diversity and inclusion in the workplace; supports local and firmwide initiatives; plays a vital role in ensuring a diverse pool of candidates is considered for job openings.

·         Onboarding:  Schedules new hire orientation and training; coordinates with other departments to ensure proper integration.  Prepares new hire paperwork; ensures forms are completed properly; follow up as necessary.  Prepares orientation packets consisting of pertinent new hire forms and benefits materials.  Conducts HR and benefits orientation for new personnel.

·         Offboarding:  Prepares departure memos and checklists; conducts exit interviews; ensures firm property is returned; answers benefits questions.

·         Transfers:  Processes employee transfers to the Austin or Houston office.

·         Benefits & Payroll:  Serves as the local benefits and payroll advisor and responds to inquiries from attorneys and staff.  Seeks advice from Firmwide HR when needed.

·         Wellbeing:  Serves as the local wellbeing committee co-chair; supports firm initiatives; plans local health & wellness events and programs.

·         Leaves of Absence:  Processes medical, new baby care, COVID, and personal leaves; handles recordkeeping, communications, and care packages.

·         Annual Performance Evaluations:  Plays a key role in processing annual staff evaluations and compensation process.

·         Budget:  Helps to prepare and monitor the HR budget for the Texas offices.

·         Workflow:  Manages secretarial workflow, absences, back-up coverage, and attorney ratios

·         Compliance:  Attends firmwide HR meetings and plays an active role in ensuring HR functions are complying with local, state, and federal regulations.

·         Special Projects:  Assists with other duties as assigned.

  • 10% travel required
